I was listing to Patt Morrison on KPCC yesterday and couldn’t believe what I heard. Approximately 80 percent of the jobs that have been lost in the recession were filled by men. The segment went on to talk about whether we were seeing the “death of macho” but I think the initial stat is more interesting.
Are women job-proof?
Seeing how I can count two three female friends who are looking for work a fourth that is likely to get laid off because of the California budget woes, my inkling is that this stat is inflated. But two of the hardest hit industries – manufacturing and business – were male-dominated.
Do you think women have a significant advantage in today’s workforce?
