Save money this month by only purchasing items you need from the best buys in March list below. I included items from the Consumer Reports‘ sales calendar others I’ve seen on sale around this time.
Gas grills – Their a bit cheaper because of the low temps, but the prices for these are on the rise as the days become warmer. Research last years models to avoid paying the steep prices on new models.
Air Conditioners – This item also made my best buys in January list because, really, the best time to buy an AC is during the off-season. Check out Bobbi’s post with her tips to buying an air conditioner if you’re in the market for one.
Garden supplies – The selection is vast at garden centers right now and will rapidly whittle down when spring is in full bloom. You’ll find seeds, bulbs, and gardening tools on sale.
Outerwear – Merchants are looking to get rid of outerwear to bring in the new styles. It’s late in the season, but since most of the country was hit with warmer than normal winter months you’ll find an array of styles still available. Look for coats and outerwear in classic styles so you can put them away. If you’re shopping for kids, go one or two sizes up so they can wear them longer.
Frozen foods – March is National Frozen Foods Month so expect to see lots of deals and coupons for frozen TV dinners.
Perfume – After Christmas and Valentine’s Day, the next perfume-intensive holiday is Mother’s Day in May. Look for discounts now as stores try to entice shoppers with deals. Come May, avoid buying this item till after the holiday.
Jewelry – The sale of jewelry is also slow in March and will pick up, like perfumes, in May. Now is the time to shop around.
Chocolate – The price of chocolate dropped after Valentine’s Day. If you don’t mind the red and pink wrapper, and hearts, you’ll find good deals on chocolate if stores aren’t out already.
Deals can also be found on digital cameras, humidifiers, small consumer electronics like MP3 players, DVD and Blu-ray players. Consumers Reports also include TVs in their list, which makes sense since the demand after the Super Bowl dips. Are there other items you’ve seen at steep discounts during March?
