Use of digital coupons is so widespread that 7 out of 10 shoppers have used coupon websites, according to a recent study of coupon use from . Digital coupons are coupons printed from the Internet and used in physical stores or online. Newspaper couponing climbed 7%, compared to a 41% increase in digital coupon use. More than 49 million Americans used online coupons, compared to 45 million in 2010.

“The consumer who prints digital coupons has an average household income of $105,000,” which is 26% higher than the U.S. average, a release about the study said. More than a third – 36% – of digital coupon users have college degrees, a tad higher than newspaper coupon users (28%) and the general populace (26%).
Cereal was the most most popular coupon category, followed by yogurt, refrigerated dough, portable snacks, vegetables, baby products, soup, air/rug/fabric care, cheese, and lunch meat.
